Had a conversation with dad as we were driving home from an event. This statement stood out to me, and makes me want to write another film based off of it: Fear is perception. You will fear on the level you perceive it to be true. With the tragic shooting of Mike Brown and the Police Departments statements that Darren Wilson was AFRAID for his life. The fact is, there is no doubt he was afraid for his life. We may look at it and say, Well, Mike was unarmed. But to the Officer who has grown up in a country where black = bad and the repeated images of the black race being portrayed in media engrained in his psyche (ours too).... no doubt Wilson was fearful for his life. You can not tell me, generally speaking, that a black brother walking down your street would not put you more on edge than a white brother. Generally its what weve been trained to do in America people. And we have to come against that pattern of thinking: Black= Bad.... when we dont even know the person or their intentions.
