Had a few of my students discuss their reactions to the documentary In His Own Home, which covers to 2010 shooting of UF student Kofi Adu-Brempong by campus police in my Black Cultural Studies course today. Some of them could not believe this happened just four years ago and that they had not heard about it. I think this class is really showing these students the stakes of issues of representation, ideology and hegemony.
