Had a good conversation with a couple of Jewish friends and these verses were discussed. Acts 15:28-29 28 For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things; 29 That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well. KJV If we look at this in context then all meat should be cooked well done and best if we ate Kosher beef and chicken because we would know for sure that the blood is as drained as it should be. For the most part, chickens are gassed and thus strangled. This written in the NT, not the OT and accepted by Paul from the Jerusalem Council as adequate commands for the Gentile believers so we can use we are under grace to get around this one. So do you eat raw meat or rare where the blood is running? Do you eat blood pudding or whatever the Filipino dish I once tasted that was basically blood gravy? If you do, how do you justify it? A couple of inquiring Jew lads and I want to know. Indeed, we are not under Law, but this is not an issue of freedom/preference or whatever. If we hope to influence folks we need to belly up to the Word and practice it even if we like having the cow run by and we rip a piece off as it goes by and listen to it moo as we chew. It says what it says.
