Had a good time at Robert Dellars and Alastair Kemps talk Capitalism is bad for your mental health today. Enjoyed learning about the main statements challenging neoliberalist streamlining of recovery - normalisation and work-ability totally, sooo out of touch with peoples experiences and struggles. Statements against the managerialist mental health policies and services takeover of recovery are being developed by a group of critical and politically alert survivors who ironically name their resistance recovery in the bin. Looking forward to learn more about this political agenda. Great to see Helen Spandler who came down from Manchester for the evening. Note down: Helen is co-organizer of the Psychopolitics conference in June 2015. More to come. I learned a user researcher has got a job at the IoP related user involvement, I am sooo happy for her. For me there still is a passionate glimmer of hope. But then again this evening I felt so inadequate as the only person whose English is full of black holes and uncanny distorsions. It is sooo unfair, being really capable at conceptual levels, I just fall behind ridiculously when it comes to articulate conversation or academic writing. Reading so much does not replace animated dialogues. Two years in London, mostly on my own, I still stumble along language-wise. Disappointed. Where find the resources to fuel my hope that I could get a research worker job also. It takes so much discipline to keep hoping...
