Had a great day yesterday late afternoon at the Auditions for a few roles in I Am A River stage/documentary project for 2015. Had a first believe it or not by having two actresses audition back to back but for both it was their first ever auditions. though both have done workshop/class productions those parts really are not auditioned for. And what I realized was that it is SO NOT about what an acting teacher does or how good they are it is what U get from it and what U put into practice yourself in your craft. The first actress, was 100% on point, the audition was 2 scenes 6 pages and they had the lines for about 3 days, this first actress knew it word for word, not something I require but seeing it done of attempted is a sign (note for those going on auditions) not only that she was very energetic but not overboard, she was very present and had questions too. The second who is taking a very well known class, was not prepared, did not have the sides with them which again isnt required, but when I hand you the lines and you look at It like you have never seen it, trouble. Granted I know she was nervous but there was no sign of any preparation at all, so, I tell people all the time, Classes are great and teachers are good but if you get nothing from it, or dont utilize what they tell you, why spend the money taking the classes. Needless to say the first got cast. Overall the day went good, cast 3, (hopefully) but out of 10 people that were due to show 9 did, only 1 no show, possibly a record
