Had a great meeting this morning with COPE Service Dogs - Jane Boake, Maureen Watt, and Dave Blevins - copedogs.org. It is a fascinating program - Service Dogs are trained up by secondary school students for two years or so; then they go on to a home with a life partner - a person with mobility limitations or living with other disabilities or exceptionalities. These dogs, and the non-judgmental companionship they bring their human friend, are life-changing in many ways. Kudos to Thor Motors (Orillia) thormotors for being the first in our area to sponsor a Service Dog. In the coming months COPE will be garnering supporters, volunteers and donors in the Orillia area.
