Had a interesting conversation today about character and failure. . I shared a story of one of my greatest failures in my professional life and how I over came it.. I was 26 I quit Pepsi an took a job with American Express financial. The job was 100% commision based.. I passed all my licenses on my 1st attempt, serries 7,66, LIFE, ACCIDENT, & HEALTH INSURANCE. Started my career on fire, but I failed at one big thing.. I failed at memorizing my 14page verbatim script. .I failed at my sales presentation. . I failed. .. I failed in front of our GVP in person, a man who earned 7 figures a year.. Ill never for get what I said to him after he tild me he would not appoint me a fincial advisor! I told him he was going to be seeing my face a lot because I was going to win every company award and sales award his company has to offer.. I told him thats who I am. In the face of failure I told this man I was going to win all his awards an he just laughed an smiled N said ok.. I learned that script an was appointed. I went on to win the American Express corporate founder award called the John Tapenzie award that year.. Went on to break every office sales record. I ranked 40th out of thousands in the nation in sales that year. . It was good to be reminded that from one of my biggest an scariest failures came one of my lifes greatest accomplishments. ..
