Had a little bit of a scare over the weekend. Phat Toni(Biss. Am Can Ch Lyntoms Tutti Frutti Tortoni) who lives with Doris Klingbeil in Edmonton was having difficulty urinating and defecating. The Vet there thought Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia and recommended neutering. After being on antibiotics and anti-inflammatories for a few days, there should have been an improvement, but this was the third day without being able to pee so the Vet decided to do surgery immediately. It turned out that there were no stones in his bladder, but some other kind of obstruction in the urethra that may have been mechanical, and quite possibly related to the enlarged prostate. The bladder and urethra were flushed until everything was clear. The surgery went well. He was very groggy afterwards and throughout the night, but Sunday he looked much more alert. He was peeing better than he has in days, although its not perfect yet. He is swollen after surgery and it will take some time for the prostate to shrink back to normal size. Here are some before and after pics. Toni is 8 1/2. .
