Had a lovely dinner yesterday at Straits Kitchen. Thank you - TopicsExpress

Had a lovely dinner yesterday at Straits Kitchen. Thank you husband for the treat. :) Since the husband was the one who made the reservations, I jokingly asked him, Did you ask them for an anniversary cake or anything? His response was negative. He did ask. Apparently, you need to bring in your own cake if there is any kind of celebration going on, and the cake must be certified Halal. We saw this couple with a cake and they were not allowed to eat the cake at the restaurant itself because the cake was not halal. Fair enough... Until I saw several tables of diners with wine and liquor. I asked the waitress to confirm what I saw and she said Yes maam, we do serve beer and wine too. Would you like to order a glass? FUNNY OR WHAT?! But thats not the point. How come they are very stringent about diners bringing in non-halal cakes? Explain the wine and beer then which they can serve to diners upon request. Whats the whole idea actually? Enlighten me please. Confused.
