Had a most excellent time with Connor at the New Orleans ComicCon - TopicsExpress

Had a most excellent time with Connor at the New Orleans ComicCon this past weekend. We were able to meet our Nerd Superhero Matt Smith who was the 11th Doctor in the BBC SciFI series Doctor Who. Connor happenstanced upon the Doctor of Marvel Comics as well, Mr. Stan Lee himself, and shook hands with the living legend. Some of the cosplays were pretty terrific as well, and my personal favorites were Chewbacca, from Star Wars, who stood at approximately 7 feet tall and a full size Dalek from Dr. Who. We also ate some beignets from one of our favorite french pastry restaurants located in the French Quarter, Cafe Du Monde, strolled down a couple blocks to Royale Street and were privileged to have an audience with the personal assistant of the famously esteemed Cajun artist of the popular Blue Dog or loup-garou, Mr. George Rodrigue. George just passed away in December. During our stay we were also able to visit the National World War 2 Museum and saw a tremendous 4-D CGI film, Beyond All Boundaries, produced by Tom Hanks that details our ultimate victory. The reason the museum is in New Orleans is because Higgins boats were built there in New Orleans and General Eisenhower credited these amphibious boats for the reason the U.S. won the war. It was an awesome exhibit to say the least. We then meandered through all the exhibits learning some of the history of the war with all its Axis & Allies, and we got to go aboard a simulated submarine, the USS Tang. Great bonding time indeed!
