Had a pretty solid day. Confirming the goodness of Iowegians, I had two atypical commercial encounters. One at a family autoshop owned by the brother of a coworker. He actively discouraged me from fixes and upgrades I dont need, taking potential money out of his own pocket to do the right thing by me. He has a new loyal customer. Next I went to another small family business seeking some repair services on my ancient leather bag. Once again, the proprietor actively argued me down from spend in money on stuff I didnt really need to get the job done. A lesson in less is more. The guy is my leather smith henceforth. I will gladly resole every pair of shoes I have with this cat (eventually if he will allow it). Then I get back to work, where I had had a company provided onsite massage, and a colleague dropped by to thank me for giving her an extra assignment. Yep. While I was chatting with her I got a text string from a friend and former Bax colleague to say thanks for past advice and counseling. Came home to an amazing dinner, a glass of wine, and a sizeable unexpected CostCo reward check. Ill take more days like this. Solid day indeed.
