Had a success explosion at school today!! In this school, and others, the children are taught by rote! They have work books and the teacher reads each paragraph and the children mimic it. They also spell out identified words by each letter. After watching for a few days I not convinced that they r making the link but they sound good! Anyway back to the explosion! The classrooms are concrete, like a WW1 bunker and there is no scope for exploring science or social science unless with a pencil! One of the topics is safety rules so I suggested that the children act it out using the traffic lights pictures. It was joyous, they pretended they were bikes and cars, again joyous!! Next week bus safety, have already booked the bus that stays in the courtyard at school!!
