Had a very long and stressful day at work today in New Brighton, - TopicsExpress

Had a very long and stressful day at work today in New Brighton, MN. It started off slow, as I had mentioned in my previous blog. Finally, we went out to Cardigan Jct. To get our train. It was a large, heavy train weighing 14,000 tons. As I had mentioned, our Soo Line/Canadian Pacific Railway setout was at the extreme rear of the train. That meant that I had to shove the entire train against what had been left on the west wye yesterday, including the two cars that had derailed and turned over on their sides. The derailed cars had been retailed and repaired. We set out the CP block and also the Minnesota Commercial Railroad cars. Then, we spent the next few hours struggling to deliver our Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway block to Northtown Yard in Minneapolis. Hours later, we emerged from Northtown with three full tracks of cars they had assembled for us. We could have taken many more. However, we still had to pick up outbound CP and MNNR cars at New Brighton. When we got everything assembled, we had 36 loads, 191 empties, 10,500 tons and a gargantuan 12,147 feet of train! It turned out to be the biggest train I have ever operated. By the end of the day, I was spent and exhausted. Lets hope the next two days turn out to be a bit easier!
