Had a wonderful surprise visit from Justin, Stephanie and Zeke. Always happy to see these three visitors. Mom and dad didnt get up until after 12:30 today. They both have appointments with Dr. B Monday Morning and I am so glad. We have several issues we need to address that are causing me a lot of concern. My dad walks on the side of his right foot - it has been a very gradual change but I think we need some orthopedic intervention. My mom is just extremely confused. It seems like every day this week I have walked in on conversations shes having with my dad where she is trying to figure out where it is they really live. Shes been in this house almost 14 years (I bought it August 2014). She has no memory of this and no amount of verbal or visual memory cues seem to convince her that she lives here and is not simply visiting. She seems to feel lost and I understand that must be incredibly frustrating to her. There are moments when I know she must be aware that shes not connecting the dots and I feel helpless. Its like trying to convince Sailor a storm isnt going to get him. I cant break through the abyss. Its as if shes drifting further away from reality and the options of bringing her back into the fold are fading right along with her memory. On a happy note, she certainly knew Stephanie and Justin and enjoyed seeing them both, but within minutes of their leaving, I see her heading back into confusion. Tough days.
