Had a wonderful time at Palouse Pride. Here is the prayer I offered Loving and Holy Creator; You who are all good and holy, We invoke the blessings of the universe this day. We plead for wholeness, --and healing where there is not. We plead for our civil rights - and justice where we do not have those rights. We plead for strength to keep up the momentum of advocacy for all our brothers and sisters -- and the power to steadfastly love when strength fails us. Bless the organizers, marchers, and all present at this Pride Festival. You are present with us Lord and for that we give thanks: in fellowship, in friendship, in food, and in the festivities -- you are here. Let love abound. Amen. ---- I got a lavender "Dyke Fabulous" scout badge - this being my first pride celebration and all. I bought a little felt rose pin offered as a fundraiser for David Warner. I made a couple of connections - important for ongoing ministry. Enjoyed being with Barbara and Emily Wexler (thanks to them I actually got to sit a bit. Saw Cathlin Stewart. Had iced coffee with Kathleen Smith-Meadows, and picked up quite a few pens. I could not leave without bringing home a trinket for Jerri - for her, and she is wearing them still, a twisted multi-strand of rainbow beads. (She loves them). Met new friends. Great band, and fun presentations by some from the Drag Queen show. The most beautiful part though - were all the straight allies who came to show support. There were little kids, medium sized kids dancing with the performers, and toddlers playing with a 5-gallon pain bucket of soap to make bubbles. I went to one vendor who had a booth "Paint your nails gay". I painted my thumb red to show support. I removed it when I got home. Not a painted nail kind of lady... just saying. Pictures to follow.
