Had a wonderful visit with my city gurl, and a new appreciation for the beauty of Florida - the greenery, the warm sunlight, the big pastel-smeared sky and wonderful breeze, people making eye-contact and smiling and talking with one another. Gotham was generally a sensory assault and a reminder that the fashion and finance industries are the evil epicenter of the world. Of course I am generally freaked out that my baby is in the midst of all that, and I want to protect her from the cold in all its forms. But I do know it is a different place for twenty-somethings and the hip-happening Hipsters in Brooklyn. The art and culture is alive in stark contrast to the destruction and decay - like a seeds in bed of manure. The music and energy of underground buskers often saved me from the stench of urine and pollution. This little girl gets it :)
