Had an elderly man come over to the center today who actually came and watched our Ring Sport training yesterday. Said he was interested in a Malinois puppy in the next year. For Protection. I said Malinois puppies do not protect why not look into rescue. He said he wanted to know the dogs past. I said most rescue fosters know exactly what the dog is and do not need to know the past. I took my 3 yr old Ring I dog and she likes to push on people with her body so I let her do it to him. He said, oh, Im older and cant have them jump. I said she did not jump but only pushed you and not hard I might add. My 1 yr old was in the yard doing what she does. killing large toys, moving, running, visiting me at the fence.. The man said wow she has a ton of energy. Geeeeee,,, that is a Malinois puppy at a year old and the other is over 3 but still has a ton of energy. See my yard with all those large toys for them to drag around. Maybe seeing the trained dogs on cops or ours at fr training yesterday made him think they were all like that. He lives in a gated community with a small patio porch and said had a fenced backyard which i have yet to see. Not all puppies grow up to protect or even are to even a Malinois. So why a Malinois when you know you dont want a dog who is active but said you had hunting dogs (a very lay back lab) and just have this vision of you older Malinois guarding you when it has to get from baby to a few years old and raised correctly etc. etc..
