Had an incredible night with my father last night. It started when he got up around midnight last night to get ready to go to Mass the next morning, in spite of my insistence that there was no Mass in the morning. I went from being frustrated with him to calming down by thinking of all the support I have from my family and friends. Then he said something incredibly funny, which I cant repeat here because it would be embarrassing to him if he knew I shared it so publicly. But I had to go to the bathroom and hold my sides for 5 minutes to stop from howling with laughter. Eventually I convinced him that there was no Mass in the morning, so he changed out of his suit. Later, he put me to bed and he asked if I needed anything and was comfortable. He even stroked my head, the way he would when I was a small child. It was a very touching moment, actually. As a result, my frustration levels are down to zero (where I hope they stay), and I feel closer to Dad now than since his Alzheimers kicked in.
