Had an interesting conversation with some politicians (from the ruling party, mind you) - those who are still about the cause for humanity, and not self-enrichment. Remember those?...the few and far between. They revealed some interesting facts; 1. Second to straight up kleptocracy in SA, the biggest form of corruption is maladministration in government departments a) 80% of the budget goes to admin and only 20% to public service b)There are too many unnecessary jobs such that if 50% of them would be removed today, the only change in efficiency there would be - if any at all - would be positive 2. The kleptocracy and plundering is out of hand. And I quote: The nuclear deal is daylight robbery to South Africans...people are looting the state and helping themselves to millions and millions of taxpayers money. Ive seen it with my own eyes. Sound familiar? (The arms deal?) 4. MPs are paid R80 000pm to call each other the equivalent of honourable butt-holes in the house...while our teachers can barely make a living from small salaries Young Africans, we need to be a different cohort of leadership than this...we have to.
