Had an interesting weekend! I took Friday off and went up hunting Thursday. Woke up Friday to a half inch of snow after having packed in 2 miles from the truck. After 2 hours of the weather getting worse decided to head back to the truck before the 4 wheel trail became an impassable mud bog. The trail is an 8 mile wonderland of 3 minor stream crossings and 5 massive mud pits that alternate between Colorado guardrails (steep drop offs). Made it down the worst of the trail with a lot of prayer and faith in time to get stuck in a ditch 1 1/2 miles from the road. 6 hours later a guy on an ATV pulled the truck out (I may have helped prep for rescue by spending 1 1/2 hours using a pack saw to cut up a dead tree for traction and 4 hours trying to dig out the high center using my hunting knife got to love cutco). My elation of only calling Annette 4 hours late died along with the truck a half mile further (fuel pump went out). Needless to say my ATV friends had headed off hunting and swung by 2 hours later to share a spot in their tent, dinner, a ride to call Annette (who had craftily called the Craig police and found out I was ok), and a 25 mile tow to Craig CO the next day. My dad dropped everything to make the 4 hour drive to pick up his stranded and dilapidated son. My mom and step dad let me borrow their car till mine is fixed. Moral of the story? Life is good, God is faithful, and I just picked Annette up from the airport (she landed safely from her travels).
