Had an opportunity to put in my two cents publicly today... My speech: This designation as a bicycle friendly community will inspire action, involvement and coordination among people that want to improve bicycling facilities in Sioux Falls and surrounding communities. Falls Area Bicyclists is the largest organized cycling entity in the city. The mission of the Falls Area Bicyclists is to promote bicycling in all of its forms and skill levels including transportation, recreation, fitness, sport, and social interaction. As President of Falls Area Bicyclists, I speak on behalf of its members to say that we are committed to working with city planners in taking steps to continue improving the bicycling facilities in Sioux Falls and surrounding communities. Studies show that the bicycle industry, bicycle tourism, and the health benefits of bicycling create jobs, positive economic activity and cost savings to local businesses. Falls Area Bicyclists will continue to advocate as a citizen organization in local governmental processes to promote bicycling, education and continued improvement of bicycling facilities.
