Had another ride in the Brown Car as I accompanied the dubious duo John and the commander, down to Woolworths, Bayswater. Just got out of the car and as we approached the store, John tried to stop a wayward pamphlet from blowing around the carpark and as the wind caught it the prospect of it getting away seemed to increase. In an attempt to stop this, I tried to to stop its progress with my walking stick, overbalanced and landed on my bum. No damaged done, John got me up and apart from a graze on my elbow and bruise on my backside, no harm done. Returning home, John got the gofer out and the War Office and I went up the Wantirna Mall. Later in the afternoon we made a collective effort of cooking a meat loaf. The loaf was too awkward and heavy for me to handle but John mixed and lifted it in to the oven. The boss is now peeling potatoes which should be ready for mashing by the time the loaf comes out of the oven. Last night they had a frittata, all easy stuff that John should be able to make for himself when we return. Margedd turned up this afternoon with a beautiful bunch of roses as a birthday gift for me, she said it was an early present giving me a chance to enjoy them as taking them home is not permitted. She also brought a couple of other little gifts which I dont propose to disclose here. As you can see, its been a fairly mundane sort of day apart from my earlier little mishap. The weather has been perfect, cold morning but brilliant sunshine all day, the rest of the week doesnt look so promising with rain forecast for the rest of the week. There seems to be divided opinion on the subject of cancelling the passports of foreign fighters. I feel that the governments first responsibility is for the safety of its citizens. Regrettably this duty comes second to the govts commitment to the 1961UN treaty on statelessness. In the meantime the door remains open to these criminals to return to Australia and cause devastation to innocent people & property. While this is occurring our brave pollies send troops to fight for these creatures on distant shores, while reducing their allowance and entitlements. Enough said. Goodnight from us.
