Had lunch with a couple of old friends at Perkins Restaurant yesterday, along with lots of other seasoned citizens. The only younger people in the place were Perkins staff and middle aged sons and daughters who came along to fold up walkers and wipe chins for their parents. Cal Robertson, Jack Parnell and I have voices that carry, warped senses of humor and laughter that seemed to entertain the other patrons who could still hear. Cals wife, Joyce, was there too. Her job was to try to keep Cal under control. Rots a ruck with that, Joyce! We had a great time during our 2 1/2 hour visit. We knew it was time to leave when they cleared our dishes and started vacuuming under our table. I escaped just before the vacuum cleaner ate the tassels off my loafers. As we were leaving, we lined up behind the walkers and canes and shuffled out into the sunlight and did our best Tim Conway and Gabby Hays impressions. The crowd loved us. I wonder if we would have received the same reception at Hooters?
