Had my jury duty service on Thursday, but I was excused so Im not going to be summoned again for eight years now. This is basically how it went; When we got to the courthouse in the morning, we all had to sit through an orientation and we filled out a juror questionnaire, then we went to the courtroom where 14 of us (I was one of the 14) were picked to go to jury box, where we were asked questions by the judge and the lawyers, and each one of us gave a brief summary of who we are and of our backgrounds. Of us 14, they needed to choose seven jurors and one alternate, but me and five others did not make the final cut (this was the same identical experience I had when I got called for jury duty back in 1994). Looking back, I kind of wouldve like to have done it, because the case seemed interesting, and it was not expected to go beyond one or two days (it was a civil trial, not criminal). I actually hope the next time I have to go again, I do get to finally sit on a jury....but Ill have to wait at least eight years now to find out! :)
