Had one last, sweet fling with Winter today. After she blanketed - TopicsExpress

Had one last, sweet fling with Winter today. After she blanketed the mountain overnight in a deep, luminous deposit of what must have been the nicest snow of the year, I was unable to resist. And how sweet it was! (I’ll leave it at that: a gentleman never tells.) As I drove down the mountain, our parting felt like a long kiss goodnight. We clung to each other, reluctant to let the moment end, unsure of the next time we’d meet. I could never fault her for making so sure I’d miss her while she was away. But I wonder if she could sense that I’d already fallen for another? Spring, with her impossibly bright green buds; her scandalous blossoms which surely emerge far before they’re safe from the clutches of frost; her longer days and the sweet way she turns Winter’s snows into Summer’s full reservoirs. Oh Spring. This year, as in every one that came before, I’d fallen for her all over again.
