Had one of the most magical evenings Ive ever had last night. Saw The Theory of Everything about the life of the amazing cosmologist Stephen Hawking and his former wife Jane. Loved it! What a phenomenal story about your lifes work; faith; family; perseverance. Then went to dinner with my mom. We dont always have the easiest relationship, but when we REALLY connect, its pure bliss. I asked her to tell me more about the details about her first pregnancy when she was 19 and unmarried in the 1960s. It was such a different time then! If you werent married you simply didnt keep the baby. It wasnt an option in her family. What she went through to have this baby and get him adopted by a good family blows me away. She couldnt go home (her parents couldnt handle the truth) ... she had to figure out how to handle this situation all by herself ... as a teenager! She has strength that I so admire. After believing I was the oldest child of my mother, I learned that I had an older half-brother about 12 years ago. With my younger sister Julie (the only sibling I believed I had) passing away when I was 16, you can imagine what a discovery this was! I talk about this discovery in my book, which is being published soon. Family dynamics and stories are beyond fascinating. Take time to listen to your familys stories, especially your elders. There is much to be learned ... and much to be healed if you are open.
