Had the 5 oldest grandkids Wednesday night for awhile. Jacob and Ava pretty much kept busy playing soccer or whiffle ball (both are 8). Lexi and Ayden just tore around (both 5) although one managed to get his hand hit by a golf club. Its okay. They were kid friendly plastic ones. Lyla (2) just wanted to be in everything with all of them. The weather was perfect. A good time seemed to be had by all. That was the day Miss Lexi took her 4K teacher out. Andy had told me that Lexi had fallen on their walk and the teacher tripped over her and landed on the poor kid (he probably didnt say poor kid). (I sure wish I had thought of that with a few teachers.) Andy and Holly both were concerned that the teacher had hurt her wrist. Lexi was upset that they were more concerned with the teachers injury than hers. Holly asked me if I wouldnt be concerned about the teachers injury. I said probably as a parent I would have been (Hell the kid will probably flunk 4K...only kidding. She is smart as a whip and the teacher would have to worry about falling over the kid again) but as a grandparent my question would be why werent you paying attention to begin with? Gary and Julia Hanson from Sun Prairie have been wanting to try Green Acres for a long time. (At one point in our friendship they wanted to go out to eat with us and thought we should meet halfway. Julia suggested the Dorf Haus in Roxbury (site of our wedding reception many years before we met them) because that was another place that fascinated them. Gary mentioned it took them over 50 minutes to get there and wondered how long we had to drive to get there. 5 minutes because traffic was heavy.) Green Acres was good and it was busy which is normal. Unfortunately we can have a good time and not drink (which is a good thing when one has to go to a meeting right after that) but then again we dont have an excuse for our behavior. Gary and Julia brought funny birthday cards and funny gifts. One of the gifts caught the eye of the people next to us (suffice it to say it had something to do with little blue pills and an old man). They apologized to us but asked if they might see that gift and the cards. They joined in the festivities. When we all left, they (Hansons and those from the next table) headed toward Madison. They probably think that when Sauk County lets the home out for a night on the town, those old people take advantage of a good time. Had the minutes of last nights meeting entered and sent to the ambulance commission president by 10. I had no interest in reading land division ordinances nor storm water runoff ordinances and engineers reports after that so it looks like I will be spending part of the weekend and Monday morning reading them. Forgiveness will heal our hearts and souls. Forgive everyone everything, including ourselves. Life is way too short to hold grudges.
