Had the best time at Camp Goodtimes Family camp this weekend. It - TopicsExpress

Had the best time at Camp Goodtimes Family camp this weekend. It was just me and the boys this year but Bretts coming next year for sure! Not sure where to begin but its more than I could have imagined. So many special activities were arranged for us. We got massages by student massage therapists, had professional photos taken, and had a very special dinner (without kids!) last night. I ate too much, laughed a lot, got lots of hugs and tried not to cry too much. Connected with 12 other families that have walked a similar journey. The Moms did a canoeing activity one morning and as we walked to the beach we realized that five of us had a child that had Wilms cancer. One Mom said that 50 kids across Canada get Wilms each year so for 5 of us to be standing in the same spot was incredible, I thought. I was reminded how God just knows where you need to be sometimes. One volunteer mentioned that when she looked at the families, she couldnt tell which child was the one who was (or is) sick. She made a special friendship with the boys and intends to attend the same week next year to see them again. Liam gave her about three hugs as we left. The boys had the best time. They were cheeky and made new name beads. Owen was Bob and Liam was Joe. And they were constantly confused for being twins, too. Two tired little boys who didnt stopped playing and exploring. Our host Cam was amazing with them. There are so many volunteers who take time to teach, encourage and involve the children in different activities. Its an incredible place. Timing is everything. From a hockey stick poke to a walk on the beach. As Liam said to me, I was so sad to have cancer but Im so glad to come here. Amen
