Had the extreme pleasure today of attending a performance at Florida Atlantic Universitys FAU Department of Theatre & Dance of Bonnie and Clyde the Musical. It was quite wonderful! The acting was great. The voices of the singers were so amazing. The set was done with so much inventiveness and use of modern technology, intermingling pictures of newspaper articles, photos of people and places, and Bonnie Parkers diary writings. Loved the car! Real gunfire at multiple points was so good. Beautiful period costumes brought more depth to the characters. Makeup was amazing. Seeing the actors later without their makeup, I was surprised that the aging makeup had been done so skillfully. Two delightful high school students played young Bonnie and Clyde {It has to be in that order, Clyde, because nothing rhymes with Bonnie.} Loved how fast the run crew operated. Lights and sound were excellent. The live music for lovely. Before, after, and during intermission there were also great selections of recordings from the time period, such as works by Cab Calloway and others. Whoever selected those tunes certainly had great taste. The House Manager was superb in her job, creating a great environment for the audience to enjoy this event that runs through July 27. One wonderful part was how they handled these dastardly characters by showing their upbringing, early interactions with each ones various authority figures, and the complexity of their character, leaving enough leeway for the audience to make their own decisions. Even the ushers were cheerfully on their toes quickly assisting those in need. This is worth the two hour drive, Melbourne folks. They have more perfomances of this so order your tickets online and go! https://fauevents/online/ You can also find them on Facebook at Fau Theatreanddance . Tickets: $20. Call: 800-564-9539
