Had the morning to play a bit today so went to a small , not far away river to see and test the new Beualh Opal 5/6 Surf rod against some small summer steelhead...having used this for Pink Salmon and earlier Summer Run Steelhead I knew this would be a blast..this rod is truly a great rod,its limits are widely realized ;Scandi,mid belly,shooting head and other outbound type lines ..I was actually using a 420grain Skagit proto type head and attached was a 14 Green(slow sink) Snowbee poly leader ,5 of flourocarbon tippet 12 lb. and one of my flies called a big bird weighted with a 1/4 bead dressed with an accent of Pro-tube plastic Jungle Cock eyes..we also have them available from Stonfo/Italy..what a fun morning..the reel is the NCFS 11/12 Salt Water reel that is excellent and the correct weight and size for these light weight rods
