Had the night off last night AND couldnt sleep, so I watched a couple films. Ahem. Dallas Buyers Club: HOly Crap. Great film. I even liked Jennifer Garner in it, which is saying something. Ol Matty MC is sneaking up on RDJ, Joaquin, and Norton for the list of my top 3 living actors. Lone Survivor: While I do appreciate what movies like this aim to do, I, personally, found this one lacking. As silly as this may sound, I think a big problem was how similar all the actors looked...it gets really hard to care about a characters path when you cant tell any of them apart. Also, sadly, it felt very mechanical. Its based on a true story, but it felt like the filmmakers didnt care very much about that story...I just think the film itself needed more work. I love all my my brothers and sisters in the service, and I think when we do make films to honor their true life story we should put 150% into it. Comparing it to other true-life war films it just falls flat, and thats a real shame. Escape Plan: Dear Lord. This entire movie is an unintentional episode of Archer. Stallone and the Governator breaking out of a maximum security prison wardened by Jesus De Monte Cristo, featuring Dr. Alan Grant as the conflicted British Doctor. Its a stupid, perfect, terrible storm with equal parts laugh out loud and facepalm. I just...see it, bc its so dumb, and I dont wanna post spoilers and I wanna tell you my favorite/least favorite moment.
