Had this very cool experience yesterday when Sophie and I were leaving Bead in Hand on Harrison - had just picked up a pearl necklace my mom had made me that I was getting repaired - I was just telling the ladies there how glad she would be that it was fixed... As we left, this very distinguished older blind man was standing at the corner and when he sensed we were behind him, he asked if I would help him across the street. I asked how he wanted to be helped - if he wanted me to hold his hand - he said yes - and so we carefully walked across the street together. I asked if he needed help getting anywhere else, and he said no, that he was going to the barber and he knew where it was. So then the three of us introduced ourselves, we all shook hands, and he thanked us. His name was Everitt. For some reason, after we left, Sophie and I were so knocked out by him that we almost started crying. And kooky as it may sound, I had this feeling that my mom had put him in our path since she couldnt be there herself...
