Had to do my Helicopter revalidation test today. Got up this - TopicsExpress

Had to do my Helicopter revalidation test today. Got up this morning with a bit of uneasiness and nervous so got to the Airport two hours early to get to the aircraft manuals to do some brush up on the autorotation speeds and other facts. My test was with Phillip Merrick who taught me to fly Helicopters. As my instructor and mentor and me having 600 plus Helicopter hours, I did not want to make any mistakes. We I got to the Airport the wind was blowing from the North at 20 Knots plus, Al the flight schools solo students flights was cancelled. The test turned out to be great fun even the 360 turns in the strong wind, the heli was blown all over the place once turned sideways in the strong wind. It was however reassuring to know that I have a master pilot with me in the cockpit if anything would go wrong. The flight test was quite comprehensive. We did, Auto rotations, quick stops. Engine failure in the hover, engine failure on take-off, engine failure on downwind, Stall recovery. Hydraulic failure landings. Auto rotations on to the ground, stuck pedal landings, confined landings into a clearing in the bush, and the 360 turns. And some more. My licence is now valid for another two years! Thank you Captain it was great flying with you.
