Had to get in (and out) of Newcastle town centre yesterday afternoon for a xmas party gig. Took half an hour to crawl through the Haymarket with all the pedestrian crossings changing to red every 30 seconds. We then discover we can no longer make a right to the Hyena Café, so have to go round the houses and keep coming to NO ENTRY signs everywhere. Finally arrive late, but get set up and sound checked as quickly as possible. Then you have to get off the double yellows as the warden gets her pencil sharpened, and find a parking space within walking distance of gig. Finally leave the toon, as the rush hour hits full swing..... (great gig tho)..... but stressful.
