Had to have the You wrote a book? Why are you working here? discussion at work again. It would seem that there are a great number of people who think published book = big fat stacks, yo. Most of us know the deal. Yes, I am a published author- both traditionally published and self-published. What I am not is Stephen King or JK Rowling. My latest release doesnt come with a six figure deal- it comes with me at my computer, eating some microwave egg rolls, while I try to get this formatting done before I go to work. I love it, though. Would I rather be able to write full time, without the third shift factory job and the worrying about paying the bills and the Ah, crap, the car broke? Sure. Maybe someday Ill even get to. In the meantime, the answer to the question Why are you working here, then? is a tired smile and Because my kids like to eat.
