Had to share this comment: The only reason these shut downs occur under democratic presidents is because instead of negotiations a SMALL PORTION of republicans have a scorched earth policy. Now let me say this. Im a very successful business owner and I dont like some of Obamas policies anymore than you do. The health care law is costing me more money, but that aside, we need policies and funding for infrastructure, roads the electrical grid, sewers etc. The water main break in California for example happened at the worst time possible, in the middle of a drought! Why? The water grid in cities and states are 80-120 years old!!! This is happening and our Congress is concerned about who can bring a bill to the floor or vote 50 times to repeal Obama care? This is serious stuff here!! These real problems are not Republican or Democratic issues. They are American issues and are costing us money!! Fedex, UPS, DHL, Wal Mart, and hundreds of other companies that depend on trucking for their logistics and delivery systems have all filed reports showing how their transportation costs have nearly doubled due to them having to re route trucks so they wont travel across unsafe roads or bridges. This is money they are spending on extra fuel and maintenance that could be used to hire more people! Of course these higher costs translate into higher costs for goods and services you and I pay for!! This inaction by Congress because of stupidity and childish stunts is costing all of us money and some of us our lives. Now Im just as principled as you are and maybe even moreso. But if one of my friends or family had died on one of those collapsed bridges Id be ready to hurt someone! Im sure you feel the same way about the people you love!! This stupidity has to stop on both sides. I say we throw out anyone whos been up there more than 8 years. Both Republicans and Democrats If 8 years is good enough for our presidents, it should be good enough for Congress too!!
