Hadi Marifat, C-Founder of AHRDO is invited to speak at TEDx, about future of peace and justice, on Monday, 9 Sept 2013, at The Hague, Netherlands. Please see the details as below; Dear Hadi, Congratulations! Your name was put forward to take part as a speaker in a special event in The Hague. We are planning a TEDx – a day-long series of presentations – on the theme ‘what is the future of peace and justice?’ at The Peace Palace on Monday, 9 September, 2013. The event organizers - the Peace and Justice project, in cooperation with Hague Academy of International Law, Radio Netherlands Worldwide, the Hague Academic Coalition and Young theHague (a formal network of the city’s young professionals) - have been working with TED, a nonprofit organization devoted to “Ideas Worth Spreading”. TED developed a series called “TEDx” to give communities, organizations and individuals the opportunity to stimulate dialogue through independently organized TED-like experiences throughout cities and other communities around the world. The event planned for 9 September will be consistent with the approach made famous by the highly popular and successful TED-talk concept (see ted/pages/about_tedx for more information). The TED concept focuses on topics worth exploring via compelling presentations limited to about 15 minutes in length. As part of the process to select speakers, the organizers considered an overwhelming number of suggestions and applications. After extensive deliberations, they selected a short list of twenty candidates to invite. Eight will speak on the day. In light of your unique perspective and experiences related to international peace and justice, the organizers hope you will consider accepting an invitation to speak as one of the top candidates chosen by the selection committee. Speakers will be free to present on a topic of their own choosing, so long as it conveys a compelling and/or innovative idea or inspirational story somehow linked to peace, justice or international law. The audience at the Peace Palace will consist primarily of young professionals and students, but viewing parties will be organized at a variety of universities, courts, government forums or other venues where participants will be able to watch a live video stream of the event and participate via video link. Speakers present without a podium or table; however, one or two slides may be used in the course of a presentation to convey details best presented via graphic illustrations. You would need to be available for two days of training and rehearsal over the weekend before the event, and for a series of skype sessions during the next two months. If you are available and interested in speaking at this event, please contact me by email [email protected] no later than July 5th, so that might be possible to schedule a follow up phone call to discuss additional details or questions you may have. In the meantime, we hope you will save the date while additional arrangements are made. On behalf of all of the symposium organizers, we are incredibly excited by the possibility of hosting you as a speaker and look forward to hearing from you soon. Janet H.
