Hahahahaha wow... the Facebook manager for Vince Grays campaign blocked my ability to comment because I called them out for a joint appearance with another infamously crooked DC mayor, Marion Barry. Way to prove my point and make me feel even better about only living inside the district for a year. The extra commute to work was worth it for my tax money to not be embezzled and to be presented with candidates who, unlike Mayor Gray, dont feel the need to hit up shady people calling themselves Uncle Earl to grease the wheels as the case may be. There are TONS of intelligent, upstanding, righteous citizens in DC, both native and transplants. It always has, and still does, blow my mind that THIS is the best the district can do. Simply absurd. The same people have been running things both out in front and behind the scenes for DECADES and all it gets the district is anything-goes politicians and an atrocious bureaucracy filled to the brim with waste and total incompetence. Consider the level of incompetence it takes for parking enforcement to not understand where the district ends and Maryland begins, health officials failing to double check work on BIRTH CERTIFICATES and marking my son a female because of a missed keystroke -- an almost catastrophic situation for him had we not caught it in a certain time period -- and the Mayor completely failing to appoint trustees to UDC at a time when they basically were unable to run official committees and just get through the business at hand, let alone improve, from merely a lack of membership -- at the ONLY public university. SHAME ON YOU MAYOR GRAY. In any case, stop shooting yourself in the foot, DC, and PAY ATTENTION to your local politics. The city is a complete mess but the fix is easily attainable. The level of talent in the city, let alone the entire DMV, is staggering. Stop electing these wannabes and secure quality leadership for your city. Complaints regarding how hard it is will not be received kindly as thats just a selfish thing to say. If youre smart, competent and care about your community, do us all a favor and start running for office -- ANC, Council or otherwise. Make me want to move back, not look for the quickest way out.
