Haider Movie. The stage of the song BISMIL BISMIL from the upcoming movie Haider, is set at the historic Martand Sun Temple in Kashmir. Belonging to the Karkota Dynasty, the temple was built in 500AD and later destroyed by Sikandar Butshikan in early 15th century. A monument rich in historical past should be preserved and respected, not treated with such carelessness and total disregard for its heritage. The main area of the temple, Garbagraham, where a deity would normally reside is replaced by a 100ft puppet depicting a devilish figure inside the temple. Most of us are well aware that Bollywood has a tendency to copy from other movies and stories, especially from the West. This movie is inspired by Shakespeares Hamlet. Borrowing from other culture is fine but it should have its limits, especially when it comes to cultural values of a Nation. The whole world goes through great pains to preserve their ancient monuments. For India, putting up an ASI board is just not good enough. I am sure if the same was done to any other religious place, the world would have been burning by now. suggestion to Bollywood: BE CREATIVE, but KNOW YOUR LIMITS!
