Halesowne, England - Jodi Russell, 28, was found guilty of two charges of causing unnecessary suffering to the dogs and four charges of failing in her duty as owner in August 2013. On Thursday, the court heard testimony about the condition of the dogs when they were seized from Russells home on Maple Road over a year ago. A dog named Storm, died within 24 hours of being seized, and had been rushed to a nearby veterinarian hospital. RSPCA charity inspector Steven Morrell testified to the court, the dogs were found in a feces and urine filled cage in the living room; Russells four children played around the cage as the defenseless dogs were left to starve. Russells defense attorney told the court his client had been suffering from the emotional effects of losing her father and breaking up with her partner. Her attorney, Daryll Foster stated his client was extremely remorseful about what she did, however the court felt there was no excuse for the egregious suffering the two dogs had to endure. The surviving dog has since been rehomed.
