Half-asleep but apparently some sense was conveyed at the Ministry of Educations Literature Symposium, parts of which transpired like a Kafkaesque dream; still there was occasional agreement about pushing of boundaries, regardless of risk and fears of censure. Later, the launch of Michelle Tans The Confusion of Happiness (A phone rings in the darkness, renouncing love is hard: dont we all transpose past lives on present nights, one poem concludes). So much respect for the publishers/booksellers who make it happen, taking real risks on behalf of us all.
