Half of earths non-human animals have decreased since the 1970s. The Zoological Society of London reports the state of the planet. The overall decline is far worse than previously thought. For example, if countries are ranked by their “ecological footprint”, (the area of land each person needs to support their lifestyle), you have the following examples: 1) Qatar was the worst, requiring 10 hectares (25 acres). 2) The average American required seven hectares while3) Britons needed five. 4) The lowest ecological footprint was in East Timor at half a hectare per person. It also said rich countries were outsourcing biodiversity loss to poor countries by buying products, such as palm oil, that are unsustainable.
