Halifax-Dartmouth & District Labour Council support baristas at Coburg Coffee The Halifax-Dartmouth & District Labour Council is thrilled to extend our support to the workers at Coburg Coffee. The Labour Council represents 25,000 unionized workers across the Halifax Regional Municipality, including many workers in the service industry and at coffeeshops. Baristas at Coburg Coffee filed for a union certification vote in the latest campaign from Baristas Rise Up! and the Service Employees International Union Local 2. Workers at Coburg Coffee are seeking fair treatment and a voice in the workplace. A union always has been, and always will be, the best vehicle for workers to achieve their goals at work, and in society. The Labour Council urges the employer to respect the workers’ desire to form a union, to recognize the union and begin the collective bargaining process immediately. We congratulate the workers at Coburg Coffee for taking this courageous step to protect their rights at work, and we look forward to working with everyone in the weeks and months ahead. In Solidarity, Kyle Buott President Halifax-Dartmouth & District Labour Council
