Hall Road Rangers came up against big spending Shaw Lane Aquaforce on Tuesday night as they travelled away for their second league game of the new campaign. If there were any thoughts of the first division being an easy ride for the recently relegated Rangers this was soon dispelled as Aquaforce ran out 4-2 winners on the night. Rangers soon found themselves 1-0 down as Ashley Flynn tucked away a penalty on just 10 minutes to give the Ducks an early lead. Danny Frost doubled that lead shortly afterwards on 29 minutes with a brilliant strike and Chris Coy grabbing a third on 45 minutes to put the home side into a commanding lead at half time. Rangers bit back in the second period though and gave themselves a chance. James Gemmell got the first for Rangers on 59 minutes to make it 3-1 and then Ben Kinsley grabbed another on 69 minutes to make it 3-2. It wasn’t enough though and Chris Coy grabbed his second and Shaw Lane’s fourth to once again put themselves out of site on 87 minutes. After the game Manager Andy Foster lamented the loss “We left ourselves too much to do in the second period. After we got back to 3-2 we played very well and could very well have snatched a point but for Kinsley who missed a great opportunity to level” “We had some very good performances in the second half, notably from Crane, Adams & Branagan and there are enough signs for optimism” Hall Road next make the long trip to Durham City on Saturday in the FA Cup.
