Hall and Blake add additional firepower to the Grand Champions’ lineups The fall polo season at the International Polo Club continues to gain momentum. The start of the 2014 Pedro Morrison Memorial Cup has attracted 7-goaler Jeff Hall and 6-goaler Jeff Blake with six teams participating in this week’s competition. Jeff Hall was born in Arizona and brought up between Santa Barbara, California and Houston, Texas. The son of an avid player, Jeff began playing polo at the age of four, spending every waking moment either at the barns with the horses or hitting the ball from the back of one. Jeff was playing actively at age seven and turned professional at the age of 13. A stay on a polo ranch in Argentina jump-started his career, and the hard-hitting Texan has been improving ever since. Wins in the US Open, the America Cup, the East Coast Open and several USPA Silver Cups and international appearances on US teams in the Westchester Cup and the Snow Polo Championships in China have firmly established Jeff as a player to be reckoned with, and his desire to improve as a rider and player increases with the competition. Jeff Blake was selected Young Player of the Year in 1998 before going on to play on the winning Gold Cup team. One of the quietest players on the field, Jeff has played on winning teams in the Joe Barry Memorial (MVP-2006) Pacific Coast Open, the Silver Cup, the USPA Gold Cup and the United States Open Championship where he received MVP honors in 2008. Jeff also participated in the 2009 Westchester Cup competition as a member of the US team. A consummate professional, Jeff takes his blue-collar work ethics to the field every day in an effort to better his horsemanship and mallet skills. One of the biggest assets Jeff brings to the field is his ability to play a disciplined position. Give him a job, a responsibility and know that he will get it done, and done quietly. His ability to cover an opponent like a blanket on defense is balanced by his ability to be in the right place at the right time on offense. Whether he is being asked to ride an opposing player out of the way, pass the ball to a streaking teammate or score himself, Jeff will get it done and will get it done without noise or fanfare. Blake and Hall are certain to be a part of the club’s season-ending high-goal competition that will include the USPA National Twenty Goal Championship, the USPA North American Cup and the International Cup.
