Halloween is behind us. Meant to tell you about my favorite one of all. It was the day I came back to Saginaw for good. Halloween night I flew into town, and no II didnt. My vehicle was United Airlines. That was the dull part. Best part: Standing in the greeting area were the Seven Dwarfs, one carrying a sign that said Hi, mom. Other arriving passengers were looking at each other wondering who the mom was. I had a pretty good idea, confirmed when granddaughter Laura, in her little red devil suit peeked out from the behind the dwarfs. People were digging out cameras to take pictures of me greeting the kids, Back story: Aunt Gloria, then Director of Student Nursing Services at SVSU had made the costumes for the university health fair. The heads were beautiful pieces of soft sculpture, each in character. We all went back to Trish and Jims house to visit while the kids went out to collect their candy. Later at Herb and Glorias house we watched the 11:00 p.m. news to watch Aunt Gloria explain to TV reporters why she kept a basket of condoms in a basket right next to the door of the student nursing. Her reply was excellent, but this is getting long. Anyway, it was my favorite Halloween of all time. I was home. Id done what I wanted with no regrets. My joy at being here has never waned. California seemed a thousand or more miles away. Which it is, of course.
