Hammerheads are one of my favorite sharks to work with. When in the water with them its a constant game of chess where you can somewhat direct the sharks based on their behaviors. Hammers are notoriously shy and elusive animals but if you know how to push the right buttons and work with them the results can be amazing. There have been many times when I have had to work with one individual shark for hours just to get the shark comfortable enought to approach our baits and divers. It is through this type of interaction that you learn the most about shark species and individuals. You learn to pickup on what their bounderies are, what their after, what kind of time windows you have, how to approach the shark, when to feed and not to feed, how to present your baits, divers etc. This particular footage was shot after working with the shark for over an hour at which point the shark was commited to the dive site and had no problem making close pass after close pass.
