Handicap International an ICBL member along with other mine action operators are helping Mozambique to remove all landmines by next year. Approx. 1, 200 mined areas covering 575km² remains a difficult exploit in Mozambique. Under Article 5 of the Mine Ban Treaty, Mozambique is required to clear and destroy all landmines by March 2014. Mozambique will host one of the most important meetings of the Mine Ban Treaty, the Maputo Summit for a Mine-Free World from 29 June to 4 July 2014 in Maputo. We are looking forward to a Mine-Free Mozambique in 2014!
