Hang on a minute. What’s all this nonsense that doctors will receive $5 less in Medicare rebates? What I know for a fact is that I pay a levy to help fund the government’s Medicare scheme. Under this scheme, I receive Medicare rebates for eligible medical expenses. With some doctors, I have arrangement to I assign MY rebate to them, and then pay the gap to the doctor. So, Abbott has cut MY Medicare rebate, while my levy has remained the same. As far as I am concerned, that’s a cost increase to me by way of government red tape. So much for Abbott’s promise to cut our red tape costs.
