Hannah Andrews and is a genetic counseling graduate student at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. She is working on creating an educational handout for parents who have daughters with PKU. The handout will focus on certain issues that can occur when a woman with untreated PKU gets pregnant. The main topic of this research is maternal PKU syndrome, which is a pattern of birth defects that can affect a baby when the mother has poorly controlled PKU. The purpose of this survey is to gather information about the communication patterns between parents and daughters about maternal PKU syndrome.
